Lathicharge on protesting workers in Punjab, several labourers injured

Police on Wednesday lathicharged labourers protesting in front of Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann’s residence in Sangrur. The workers, who came to protest under the leadership of Bharatiya Khet Mazdoor Union for their demands, were beaten up. Several labourers were injured and have been admitted to sangrur hospital. Members of different trade unions from across Punjab had reportedly gathered at the bypass in Sangrur on Wednesday morning. From here, he marched towards CM Bhagwant Mann’s residence under the banner of Bharatiya Khet Mazdoor Union. The organizations had given the call of this protest in advance, so the police administration had deployed heavy police force on the way to the CM’s residence since morning.

In such a situation, the workers, who were moving forward raising slogans against the Punjab government and Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, were stopped by the police by barricading a kilometer before the CM’s residence. When the workers tried to cross the barricading and move forward, they started manhandling the police. The Punjab Police then lathicharged the protesters. Many farmers and labourers were also injured in this lathicharge. On the other hand, after this lathicharge, members of labor organizations sat on a dharna in front of the gate of the colony in which Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann lives. They blocked the way inside the colony. Members of trade unions say the punjab police’s pushing will not be tolerated.

In fact, the protesting trade unions have two major demands. These include giving them plots to build houses and demanding permanent employment. Trade unions say they do not get daily wages for MNREGA and farm work. The protesters alleged that their demands were being ignored. The Punjab government is not even giving MNREGA funds to panchayats. In such a situation, it has become difficult for them to run their house. Even today, the daily wage of labourers in Punjab is Rs 250. The government is now reneging by promising to increase daily wages, give plots and waive loans.

Former Maharashtra minister Nawab Malik’s bail plea rejected

The PMLA court on Wednesday ruled on the bail application of former Maharashtra minister and NCP leader Nawab Malik. The court has rejected the bail plea of Nawab Malik. The judge said in the order that the statement of Munira Plumber, the owner of Goawala Compound in Kurla, is very important. Nawab Malik was arrested by the ED on February 23 this year on charges of money laundering. Since then, he has been in judicial custody.

NCP leader Nawab Malik is in judicial custody but is currently undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Kurla, Mumbai due to ill health. Where he has also been admitted for a long time. Special Judge R N Rokade had on November 14 reserved his order on Malik’s bail plea after hearing lengthy arguments from both sides.

The court had earlier said it would pronounce its order on November 24. However, that day the court adjourned the matter to November 30, saying the order was not ready. Malik, an NCP leader, had filed a regular bail plea before the special court in July. Malik sought bail saying there was no ground to prosecute him for money laundering.

The ED claimed that the accused was working with Dawood Ibrahim and his sister Haseena Parkar and there was no question of his innocence. According to SMC Global, the country’s oil companies save 45 paise per liter on refining when crude falls by $ 1. Accordingly, the price of petrol and diesel should be reduced by Rs 14 per liter. However, experts believe that the entire cut will not happen at once.

According to the prices of petrol and diesel in the country at present, the Indian basket of crude oil should be around $ 85 per barrel, but it has come around $ 82. Bilkis Bano case: Review petition filed, seeks stay on release of convicts

Bilkis Bano, a victim of the 2022 Gujarat riots, has filed a review petition in the Supreme Court. Bilkis has sought a reconsideration of the court’s May 13 order. Based on this order, the convicts of gang-raping Bilkis and killing her family members were released. The matter has been placed before the Chief Justice on Wednesday. He has assured to consider it and put it before the appropriate bench.

In fact, on May 13, a bench of Justices Ajay Rastogi and Vikram Nath of the Supreme Court had ruled on the petition of one of the convicts Radheshyam Shah, saying that he was sentenced in 2008. Therefore, the stringent rules framed in Gujarat in 2014 for release will not apply but the 1992 rules will apply. On August 15, the Gujarat government had released 11 people who had served 14 years in jail on the same grounds. The 1992 rules had said that life convicts would be released after 14 years, while the new rules, which came into force in 2014, denied this exemption to convicts of heinous crimes.

The review petition filed by Bilkis Bano said that when the trial went on in Maharashtra, the rules should also apply there and not Gujarat. So far, many leaders and social activists, including Subhashini Ali, Rupali Verma Mahua Moitra, had reached the Supreme Court against the release. They had challenged the Gujarat government’s order. These petitions are being heard. Now Bilkis Bano herself has come to the court and she has demanded the withdrawal of the Supreme Court order on May 13.

During the 2002 Gujarat riots, Bilkis of Randhikpur village in Dahod district eloped with 16 members of her family and hid in the fields of nearby village Chaparwad. On March 3, 2002, more than 20 rioters attacked there. Bilkis, who was 5 months pregnant, was among the other women raped. Not only this, 7 people, including Bilkis’s 3-year-old daughter, were killed.

After receiving a complaint from the accused of pressuring the victim’s side, the Supreme Court transferred the case to Maharashtra. On January 21, 2008, a special CBI court in Mumbai sentenced 11 people to life imprisonment. In 2017, the Bombay High Court upheld the sentence.

Well, as per a recent media report, the Bahubali filmmaker is looking at making the Mahesh-starrer on the lines of Harrison Ford-led Indiana Jones. You read that right. As per the director’s own confession, he is looking to make an adventurous film. Read on.

During a recent interaction with a Hollywood media publication – as reported by Pinkvilla, director SS Rajamouli talked about his next, tentatively titled SSMB 29, with Mahesh Babu. Talking about the actor, the RRR maker said Babu is a huge star in Telugu. Rajamouli further added, “I wanted to do an adventurous film on the lines of Indiana Jones for a long time and I felt it is the right time to do this.”

SS Rajamouli stated that Mahesh Babu looks good as an adventure hero and is the perfect fit for the role. We are sure the expectations from this film are humongous as fans of the Telugu actor are eager to see their demigod in an action-adventure film.
As per the report, Rajamouli mentioned that SSM29 will be a globe-trotting adventure and the script of this highly anticipated film will be written by his father Vijayendra Prasad. Reportedly, the pre-production work on the film has already begun and the filmmaker will start the recce for the yet-untitled film soon. “Tich Button” was supposed to come out on Eid Ul Fitr 2020. It’s an Eid film that missed its due date for 2 years but is now finally out. And it fits the bill for Eid films out and out. It has romance, comedy, a little bit of action, and drama. And surprisingly enough, it’s not a bad film to see this weekend.

The story of “Tich Button” is about two childhood friends separated by distance and misunderstanding and reunited by love. Farhan Saeed plays ‘Kaka’ in his film debut, the playful village boy who wears his heart on his sleeve. Feroze Khan plays Saqib, the son of the family patriarch who works as a restaurant manager in Turkey. As Kaka says, the two are “Tich Button”.
Saqib has been promised to the ‘Phuppo Ki Beti’ Shakeela played by Sonya Hussyn back home. However, he’s got no interest and enlists Kaka’s help to get him out of marriage. This leaves room for Kaka and Shakeela to grow closer together instead. On the other hand, Saqib falls for Iman Ali’s Leena, a Turkish born Pakistani who can’t hold down a job because of her uncompromising demeanour.
As the two couples meet in Punjab for Kaka and Shakeela’s wedding, sparks begin to fly. Love blossoms in unexpected places and childhood friendships are tested.
This is an old plot, but because of the stellar cast, it’s an enjoyable ride. Farhan Saeed has a natural knack for the big screen. Nowhere does he seem shy or restrained. His presence fills the screen and he’s comfortable working alongside both Samiya Mumtaz and Sohail Ahmed who are both on point. Feroze Khan also plays his role well.
However, Iman Ali is the weak link in the chain. She plays up the arrogant foreign born Pakistani girl who discovers the warmth of village life in Pakistan. However, it’s not a very convincing performance.

Tich Button belongs to Farhan Saeed. The only time he’s upstaged is when he shares the screen with Sohail Ahmed and Samiya Mumtaz, but then that’s to be expected from the industry veterans.

Currently, he is preparing for the release of Gold and Kappa as well as the second instalment of his directorial, Lucifer, which stars Mohanlal. Alongside Prabhas, he appears in Salaar, which Prashanth Neel is directing and is expected to be one of the top pan-Indian draws of 2023.
