Pakistani batter Kamran Akmal has lashed out at Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) after Shahid Afridi’s revelation about Shaheen Afridi sparked a massive debate in Pakistan cricket.

Pakistani batter Kamran Akmal came out in Shahid Afridi’s support after his former teammate slammed Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and made a shocking revelation about Shaheen Afridi’s rehabilitation. Pace ace Shaheen had missed the entire edition of the Asia Cup due to a knee injury that he sustained during the Sri Lanka series. Making headlines with his sensational claim, Afridi alleged that Shaheen flew out to the United Kingdom (UK) for surgery at his own expense.

A day after Afridi’s big revelation sparked a massive debate in Pakistan cricket, the Ramiz Raja-led Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) issued an official statement about Shaheen’s treatment. Launching an attack on the apex cricket board of Pakistan on Saturday, Afridi’s former teammate Akmal urged PCB chairperson Raja to sack those who are responsible for the Shaheen fiasco. Sharing his views on his YouTube channel, Akmal defended Afridi and claimed that the medical team of PCB wasted Shaheen’s time by forcing the pacer to travel with the Babar Azam-led side

The PCB chairman must sack the guys responsible for the Shaheen Afridi fiasco. Did Ramiz Raja ask if Afridi’s treatment was happening under the PCB’s supervision? What about the travel and accommodation expenses? Shahid Afridi would never have made such a statement if PCB had paid for all the expenses. He spoke because PCB hasn’t done anything. The medical team initially wasted 35-40 days by making him travel with the team,” Akmal said.

On Thursday, the PCB named pacer Shaheen in Pakistan’s star-studded squad for the 2022 edition of the World Cup. However, speed merchant Shaheen will miss the seven-match T20I series between hosts Pakistan and England. Speaking at a press conference in Lahore, Pakistani chief selector Mohammad Wasim assured that the PCB is assessing Shaheen’s injury.

“Shaheen was forced to go to London as PCB’s medical team didn’t provide him any proper treatment. He did the right thing by departing for London instead of wasting more time. If he had made this decision a bit earlier, he would have been playing the home series against England,” said Akmal who played 58 T20Is for Pakistan.

Akmal observed that Afridi was allowed to resume his training just two days after the star pacer arrived in London. Talking more about the ‘incompetent’ medical staff of the PCB, Akmal opined that the cricket board is doing damage control by sending Fakhar Zaman to London for his rehabilitation.

Just two days after reaching London, he was able to resume his training. Whereas, the PCB medical team made him tape his knee when he was at the ICC Academy. This shows how incompetent the medical staff is. The board says they have arranged the doctors, but Shahid Afridi has said that it was he who made the arrangements. Actor Kangana Ranaut has sent her good wishes to actor Anupam Kher’s mother Dulari. Taking to Instagram, Anupam posted a video in which Dulari gave her blessings to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on his 72nd birthday. Sharing the video on Instagram, Anupam captioned the post in Hindi, “Mother wanted to congratulate Modi ji on his birthday. So my brother @rajukherofficial made the video. Dulari says that Modi ji is blessed by thousands of mothers. And mom likes him more than us. These blessings come out from her heart. @narendramodi! May the blessings of millions of mothers be upon you always! (folded hands emoji).” He also added the hashtags ‘Modiji Rocks’, ‘Dulari Rocks’, ‘Birthday Wishes’ and ‘Prime Minister’.

Reacting to the video, Kangana Ranaut wrote, “Hamesha chehre pe muskurahat la deti hain mata ji… bhagwan inko lambi aayu de (She always puts a smile on my face… May God bless her with a long life).” Anupam replied, “@kanganaranaut Thank you ji.”

Earlier, Anupam had posted a video on Instagram of Narendra Modi taking oath as the PM. Wishing him on his birthday, Anupam wrote in Hindi, “Respected Prime Minister Shri @narendramodi ji! Happy Birthday to you! May the Lord grant you a long and healthy life! You are trying your best to fulfill the responsibility of your oath! Will keep doing it for years! Thanks for your leadership! Happy Birthday Prime Minister #Modiji!”

Kangana Ranaut had also wished the PM by sharing a photo of herself with him on Instagram Stories. She wrote, “Happy birthday honourable Prime Minister @narendramodi. From selling tea on railway platforms as a child to becoming the most powerful man on this planet, what an incredible journey… we wish you a long, long life, but like Rama, like Krishna, Like Gandhi, you are immortal. Anupam and Kangana will be seen together in their upcoming film Emergency, which revolves around the life of late Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. It features Kangana in the titular role of the late politician and Anupam Kher as J P Narayan. Mahima Chaudhry, Shreyas Talpade and Milind Soman will also be seen as Pupul Jayakar, Atal Bihari Vajpayee, and Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw respectively. Blocking India’s proposal at UNSC to designate Pak-based terrorists as global terrorist is a low-cost option for China to appease its client state rather than allow it to renegotiate the power projects with Chinese companies as part of mandatory condition for a much-needed IMF loan by Islamabad.

The blocking of the US-India joint proposal before the UNSC 1267 committee to designate 26/11 killer Sajid Mir as a global terrorist by China indicates that when it comes to Pakistan-based terrorists targeting India, obstruction is the default position of Beijing without going into the merits or demerits of the submission. Mir was part of the Pakistani ISI-conceived Karachi Project, whose demon child Indian Mujahideen terror group killed nearly 1,000 innocent Indians from 2005 to 2011 through IED blasts.

On the instructions of Beijing, the Chinese representative in the UN put the Mir proposal on hold after the designation of two more Pakistani terrorists—Lashkar-e-Toiba’s financier Abdul Rehman Makki and Jaish-e-Mohammed operational commander Mufti Rauf Azhar—were put on technical hold at the UNSC by Xi Jinping regime.

This means that the pending proposal of France-India joint proposal to designate Pakistan-based Jaish-e-Mohammed killers Mohiuddin Alamgir and Ali Kashif Jan as global terrorists by the 1267 committee will also be blocked by China soon. By doing this, the Xi Jinping regime is sending a message to India that terrorism is your problem and hence you sort it out. It is also a low-cost option for China to appease its client state Pakistan rather than allow it to renegotiate the power projects with Chinese companies as part of mandatory condition for a much-needed IMF loan by Islamabad. Pakistan is deep under debt due to gold plated power projects set up with the help of Chinese companies on high interest loans and high cost of electricity.

Although China may feel that it is a low-cost option, the Narendra Modi government takes terrorism very seriously and such actions from Beijing will further add bitterness to already a sour bilateral relationship. The hold on Makki, Azhar and Mir will also complicate China’s relationship with US and France as Mir was training French jihadists in early 2000 and was responsible for killing US nationals in the 26/11 attack.

It is understood that China’s “no limits” friend Russia is no longer a safe bet for India to become a co-sponsor for designation by the 1267 committee. Britain, which still thinks is the last word on the Af-Pak region, has also been dilly-dallying on these proposals given its close relationship with Rawalpindi

Russia-Ukraine War: Russian President Vladimir Putin has warned that Moscow would respond more forcefully if its troops were put under further pressure.

U.S. President Joe Biden urged Russian President Vladimir Putin to not use tactical nuclear or chemical weapons in the wake of setbacks in Ukraine, in a CBS News interview to air on Sunday.

Ukraine’s military drove back Russian forces in a lightning rout in the northeast of the country this week, putting Putin under pressure from nationalists at home to regain the initiative.

Putin has warned that Moscow would respond more forcefully if its troops were put under further pressure, raising concerns that he could at some point use unconventional means like small nuclear or chemical weapons.

Asked by a “60 Minutes” reporter what he would say to Putin if he was considering using such weapons, Biden said: “Don’t. Don’t. Don’t. It would change the face of war unlike anything since World War Two,” in a clip of the interview released by CBS on Saturday.

Biden said the U.S. response would be “consequential,” but declined to give detail. Russia “would become more of a pariah in the world than they ever have been,” Biden said. “Depending on the extent of what they do will determine what response would occur.”

Russian government officials have dismissed Western suggestions that Moscow would use tactical nuclear weapons in Ukraine, but it remains a worry for some in the West.

In a speech announcing the invasion of Ukraine on Feb. 24, Putin gave a veiled but unmistakable warning that if the West intervened in what he has called a “special military operation” he could use nuclear weapons in response.

No matter who tries to stand in our way or … create threats for our country and our people, they must know that Russia will respond immediately, and the consequences will be such as you have never seen in your entire history,” he said, according to a Kremlin translation.

Other choices for Putin could involve mobilizing Russia’s reserves, who number around 2 million men, and pressuring Europe to strong-arm Ukraine into a truce with Russia, by freezing the region this winter by banning all energy exports.
