Ananthapuram Anil Kumar, a social activist from Ananthapuram, Andhra Pradesh, has made headlines for his unique initiative to bring back sparrows to the town. Through his project, Home for Birds, Anil Kumar and his team have successfully installed over 68,000 man-made nests in the town, made of natural coir sourced from rural women in Alleppey and Kanyakumari.
The project, which began 16 months ago, has already yielded great results in welcoming back the urban sparrows to Ananthapuram. Thanks to Anil Kumar’s tireless efforts, more than 150,000 sparrows have been added to the town through the project.
Anil Kumar distributes nests free of cost every day from his house in the morning, ensuring that anyone who wants to contribute to the cause can do so easily. His hard work and dedication have earned him a place in the Harvard World Records for Ananthapuram being the only town in the world to have more than 58,000 man-made nests made of natural coir.
Speaking about his project, Anil Kumar said, “I have always been passionate about birds, and I noticed that the sparrows were disappearing from our town. I wanted to do something to bring them back, and that’s how the Home for Birds project was born. We started small, but now we have hundreds of people contributing to the cause. I’m happy to see the results of our efforts, and I hope that more people will join us in our mission to create a better world for birds.”


Anil Kumar’s project has not only helped bring back the sparrows to Ananthapuram but has also created job opportunities for rural women who are involved in making the nests. The project has also inspired many others in the town to take up similar initiatives and create a more sustainable environment for the birds.
His new project water for birds which was started 6 months back to quench the thirst of birds in the town has already finished distributing more than 10000 water bowls made of clay so that people can provide water for the birds

Police have detained 3 people including the injured history sheeter.

According to Rural SP Dharmendra Singh Yadav, at 11 am, information was received that the history sheeter was hiding in the hills of Mandawa near Osian. In such a situation, the team reached the hills of Mandawa at 3 o’clock, chasing the miscreant. During this time, In order to avoid the police, Nimbaram fired 3 rounds at the police. Constable Bhawani Singh, who was present in the police team, fired 2 rounds in retaliation. During the firing, a bullet hit Nimbaram’s leg.

He was trying to escape even after being shot, but was caught by the police team. After being detained, he was brought to the government hospital in Osian, from where he was referred to Mathura Das Mathur Hospital in Jodhpur.

According to the police, Nimbaram has 14 cases registered against him. These include Bikaner, Chittorgarh, Mathania, Banad, Chaupasani Housing Board of Jodhpur and Bilada, Lohawat police station areas of rural areas. Police said that most of the cases are related to arms smuggling and Arms Act.

Udaipur: The Udaipur police have registered a case against Pandit Dhirendra Krishna Shastri of Bageshwar Dham for allegedly making inflammatory speeches. The police have taken this action regarding one of his statements at a dharma sabha held at Gandhi Ground a day earlier. In the Dharma Sabha, he had called upon the people to install saffron flags in the Kumbhalgarh Fort of Rajsamand district, which has 100 green flags.

The police have considered it to be inciting religious violence. Taking cognizance of his statement, a case was registered at Hathipol police station in the city. Udaipur SP Vikas Sharma said that his statement is provocative and controversial.

Dainik Bhaskar quoted Additional SP Chandrasheel Thakur as saying that “Provocative words were used by Pandit Dhirendra Shastri to increase the dispute between communities. After this statement, some youths also tried to make a product on the Kumbhalgarh Fort on Thursday night. Five youths have been arrested in connection with the case. A case has been registered against all of them at Kelwada police station.

It provides for imprisonment up to 3 years or fine or both.
