BOLLYWOOD ICONS DHARMENDRA, JAYA BACHCHAN, AND SHABANA AZMI TO STAR IN HIS FILM.
A kind of casting coup has been pulled off by Karan Johar for his upcoming directorial project, which will be revealed on July 6. Several sources told News18 that the director secured the services of Bollywood icons Dharmendra, Jaya Bachchan, and Shabana Azmi to star in his film.
Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt will play the lead characters in the movie, which will be director Karan Johar’s first project in five years. Alia Bhatt, Ranveer Singh, Shabana Azmi, Jaya Bachchan, and Dharmendra These are the credit titles for Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahaani, a multi-starrer directed by Karan Johar.
A source close to Karan Johar Said, “Although Ranveer and Alia play the title roles, it is the senior superstars who are the backbone of Karan’s film. All the marketing and promotion of the film will spotlight the three stalwarts. The opening titles will have their names first.”
Jaya Bachchan and Karan Johar have previously collaborated. The collaboration between Dharmendra and Shabana Azmi and Karan Johar is new. In his best film to date, My Name Is Khan, Karan had offered Shabana the part of Shah Rukh Khan’s mother, but she had declined.
Shabana Azmi claims that she is unaware of the billing. “But I do know that Karan Johar is extremely respectful towards all of us on the sets. As far as billing goes, every actor should be respected. The great Ashok Kumar’s name used to come first in the credits right till the end of his career.”
