Microsoft announced a major global tech outage linked to a CrowdStrike software update, impacting around 8.5 million Windows devices. In a blog post, Microsoft stated that less than one percent of all Windows machines were affected. The issue stemmed from a recent CrowdStrike update, causing disruptions across various industries. The outage affected not only personal computing but also led to delays and cancellations in air travel, and impacted sectors like banking and media.

CrowdStrike is collaborating with Microsoft on a scalable solution, with assistance from AWS and Google Cloud, to restore normal operations and minimise further disruptions. This incident underscores the challenges of maintaining stability in interconnected technology systems.
