Joshimath in Uttarakhand has been declared a disaster-affected area by the Central Government. Along with this, construction work has been stopped in Joshimath and surrounding areas. The central government has also prepared an action plan to shift people from the affected areas. A team of experts from the central government is in Joshimath, which is taking stock of the situation. Meanwhile, the opposition Congress has made many allegations against the BJP government by holding a press conference. Congress leaders have also raised several demands.
Congress leaders said that houses, temples are being demolished in Devsthala Joshimath. There has been a crack in the Shivalinga and dozens of families have become homeless. The Congress said Prime Minister Narendra Modi took cognizance when everything fell apart. The Congress government said that the UPA government used to take cognizance of environmentalists, but the present Modi government does not do so.
At a press conference, Congress leader Pawan Khera said that the tragedy that took place in Joshimath in Uttarakhand should be declared a national disaster. He said that it is a man-made disaster. The work of the tunnel which is being cited as the reason should be stopped, other tunnels should also be filled.
Uttarakhand Congress in-charge Devendra Yadav said the CM visited Joshimath only for show. Congress leaders who wanted to meet the CM were taken into custody. The negligence and insensitivity of the government has come to the fore in the entire matter. The Congress leader said that the people of Joshimath are suffering today due to the uncontrolled development done by the Modi government without thinking, without protecting nature.
