 According to the ‘Women & Men  in  Delhi-2023′ report, the unemployment rate was  5.1%  for  men  and  6.0%  for  women  in Delhi in  2021-2022,  while  across  India  it was  4.4%  for  men  and  3.3%. hundred  for  women.

  According to a Delhi government report, the  unemployment rate in Delhi  is higher,  almost double  among women,  compared to the  national average.  

 According to the ‘Women & Men  in  Delhi-2023’ report, the unemployment rate was  5.1%  for  men  and  6.0%  for  women  in Delhi in  2021-2022,  while  across  India  it was  4.4%  for  men  and  3.3%. hundred  for  women.  The  general  employment  situation shows  that  33.1%  of  men  working  in the city  are self-employed, 63% are in the regular salary group and 3.5% are in the seasonal group. Among female workers, only 17%  were  employed in the self-employed group, while 83%  were in the regular  paid group,  the  report said. At  the  industry level, of the total number of  female workers,  59.74% work  in  “other services”,  followed by  “trade, hotels  and  restaurants” (14.73%)  and  “manufacturing industry”. ” (14.19%)  in 2021-22. 

  For  male workers, the majority  (29.77%) work  in  the “commerce,  hotel  and restaurant” sector,  followed by  “manufacturing” (24.02%)  and  “other services” . » (22.87%)  in Delhi. 

  The  city’s labor  force participation rate  was 57.5% for  the  male population and  9.4%  for  the  female population in  2021-22,  while  across city India, the figure  was  57.3%  for  the  male  population  and  24.8%  for  the  female population.  According to the OECD, the  activity  rate is calculated  by dividing  the  active population  by the total working-age population. 

  The report revealed that 89.42  women fell into  the  “not working” category.  The 6th  economic census  of Delhi showed that  80.63% of men  and only  19.37% of women  were  employed in agricultural establishments.  In  the  “Non-agricultural establishments” sector (in addition to  services  including mining,  manufacturing, electricity, gas, steam, water supply,  sanitation,  waste management and construction  activities), 91 .58% of men  and  8.42% of women are employed.  

 In  the “non-agricultural establishments (services)” sector, 85.33% of men and 14.67% of women were employed. Overall, large differences were recorded  in the employment of men  (87.52%)  and women  (12.48%),  the  report added.
