In a significant order, Sh. Pitambar Dutt, Learned District Judge (Commercial) at Karkardooma District Courts, has directed major e-commerce platforms—including Flipkart, Amazon, Snapdeal, Meesho, and FirstCry—to refrain from hosting or selling products that infringe upon the intellectual property rights of BOL7 Technologies Pvt. Ltd.

BOL7 Technologies Pvt. Ltd., a manufacturer and supplier of the unique ‘Toy Building Blocks’, produces high-quality, child-friendly, and ISO-certified toys under the ‘Make in India’ initiative. However, the company has faced challenges in selling its products in both physical and digital markets due to the influx of counterfeit versions. These counterfeit toys, primarily imported from China, fail to meet industry standards and pose potential health risks to children.

The case was argued by Advocate Sachin Bajpai, Managing Partner at Recenns Legal, who secured a favourable ruling for BOL7. The court affirmed that the design used in the ‘Toy Building Blocks’ is the exclusive property of BOL7 Technologies, prohibiting any other entity from selling similar products. Furthermore, online intermediaries have been instructed to remove all URLs hosting infringing products.

This ruling is expected to significantly impact the online toy market by curbing the sale of counterfeit products and reinforcing intellectual property protections for indigenous manufacturers.
