On the occasion of National Education Day, DevElet and the Council for Skills and Competencies (CSC India) hosted the prestigious National Teaching Excellence Awards 2024 in a virtual ceremony to honor outstanding educators from across India. This annual event, which celebrates National Education Day in honor of Maulana Abul Kalam Azad’s birth anniversary, brought together esteemed educators, industry leaders, and policymakers committed to advancing educational standards and innovation in teaching.
The event was graced by Chief Guest Dr. G. Jaya Suma, Registrar at JNTU-GV Vizianagaram, who delivered an inspiring address. Dr. Suma highlighted the profound impact of teachers on national development, emphasizing that educators are essential pillars in the mission of building a skilled and knowledgeable society. The event’s timing on National Education Day reflected the vision of Maulana Azad, India’s first Minister of Education, and honored his contributions toward establishing a robust educational foundation for the nation.
Other notable guests included Dr. R. Sujatha, Principal of Entrepreneur Education at Wadhwani Entrepreneurship Network (WEN), and Shri Krishna Chippalkatti, Joint Director and National Chief principal Investigator for the IoT Group at C-DAC, Bengaluru and FS Prime. Dr. Sujatha shared her insights on integrating entrepreneurial skills into educational frameworks, while Mr. Chippalkatti discussed the increasing relevance of technology in education and its role in preparing students for the future.
The awards were conferred in several key categories, including Teaching, Leadership, Innovative Pedagogy, Curriculum Innovation, Research, and Professional Development. Notable recipients of this year’s fellowships included:
· Honorary Leadership for Academic Achievement:
o Dr. VSK Reddy, Vice Chancellor of Malla Reddy University, Hyderabad, recognized for his transformative contributions to higher education.
o Dr. PHV Sesha Talpa Sai, Director of R&D, IQAC & Startups at Malla Reddy University, for his academic leadership and excellence.
o Dr. Srinivasa Rao, Principal of Malla Reddy College of Engineering & Technology, acknowledged for his visionary leadership in educational administration.
· Best Researcher Award:
o Dr. A.N. Sathyanarayana, former Group Head at ISRO’s National Remote Sensing Centre and Professor at Sreenidhi Institute of Science & Technology, Hyderabad.
o Dr. T. Kishore Kumar, Professor & Head at the Centre for Training and Learning, NIT Warangal.
o Dr. N. Balaji, Professor and Director of Legal & Government Affairs, JNTU Kakinada.
Additional awards were presented to distinguished faculty members from prominent institutions, including IISc Bangalore, Srinivas University Mangalore, CHRIST University Bangalore, and NIT Warangal, among others.
