During Phase 1 of the Lok Sabha Elections, voter turnout varied across states, with West Bengal having the highest at 77.57% and Bihar the lowest at 47.49% by 7 pm, averaging at 60%. Unfortunately, a CRPF officer lost his life in an IED blast in Chhattisgarh’s Bastar constituency.

Manipur reported irregularities and EVM destruction, but the Election Commission assured that polling was peaceful in all 21 States/UTs. Instances of violence and intimidation were reported in parts of West Bengal during polling in Cooch Behar, Alipurduar, and Jalpaiguri constituencies.
