THE STORY OF VAJPAYEE, ONE OF THE CO-FOUNDERS AND A SENIOR LEADER OF THE BHARTIYA JANTA PARTY, WILL BE TOLD IN THE FILM.

A biopic named ATAL will star actor Pankaj Tripathi as former prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, the film’s producers revealed on Friday. The story of Vajpayee, one of the co-founders and a senior leader of the Bhartiya Janta Party, will be told in the film, which was written by Utkarsh Naithani and directed by 3-time National Award winner Ravi Jadhav.
Pankaj stated that he feels honoured to portray such a legendary, multifaceted figure as Vajpayee, saying, “It is an honour to portray such a humane politician on screen. He was not just a politician but so much more, he was an excellent writer and a renowned poet. Getting to be in his shoes is nothing but a privilege for an actor like me.”
It is a rare opportunity for director Ravi Jadhav, well known for directing the Marathi films Natarang and Balgandharva, to work with such a gifted actor as Pankaj Tripathi on a biopic of the late leader.

In collaboration with 70MM Talkies, Vinod Bhanushali, Sandeep Singh, Sam Khan, and Kamlesh Bhanushali produce ATAL, which Zeeshan Ahmad and Shivv Sharma also co-produce. According to Vinod, the entire cast agreed that Tripathi is the ideal choice to play Vajpayee. Vinod said, “We are delighted to have one of India’s finest actors playing the part. We also have an exceptional director Ravi ji on board who we are sure will bring the story of our exemplary leader beautifully.”
The team plans to release the movie around Christmas 2023, which also happens to be the anniversary of Vajpayee’s birth at age 99, according to producer Sandeep Singh. Bhanushali Studios Limited and Legend Studios are the producers of ATAL.
