From Desktop to Doorstep: Microsoft & Crocs Bring Back Windows XP Nostalgia, Now on Your Feet!

Redmond, WA & Broomfield, CO:

Two icons of innovation and cultural impact—Microsoft and Crocs—have teamed up to create one of the most unexpected yet exciting collaborations of the year. Together, they are reimagining nostalgia by bringing the world’s most beloved operating system, Windows XP, quite literally to your feet.

The limited-edition Windows XP x Crocs Classic Clog Collection merges the comfort and quirkiness of Crocs with the unforgettable design language of Microsoft’s early 2000s desktop revolution. From the famous Bliss wallpaper of rolling green hills under a vibrant blue sky, to the iconic Start button colors and XP logo detailing, every pair celebrates a piece of computing history in a playful, wearable form.

A Throwback with a Twist

Launched in 2001, Windows XP became one of Microsoft’s longest-running and most beloved operating systems, symbolizing a new era of personal computing. Its cheerful startup sounds, simplified interface, and bright, welcoming design have since earned it a permanent place in tech nostalgia.

Meanwhile, Crocs, founded in 2002, was simultaneously carving its own cultural niche with its lightweight, comfortable, and instantly recognizable footwear. Fast forward two decades, both brands are celebrated icons, beloved by enthusiasts who embrace a mix of practicality, boldness, and fun.

This collaboration channels that early-2000s optimism—when technology felt fresh and fashion was delightfully experimental—into a wearable tribute for a generation that grew up clicking “Start” before stepping out into the world.

What to Expect from the Collection

The Windows XP x Crocs collection will include:

  • Bliss Clogs: Featuring the lush green-and-blue landscape of the legendary Bliss wallpaper that greeted millions of users worldwide.
  • Classic XP Blue Clogs: A sleek tribute to Windows XP’s recognizable bright-blue taskbar and Start menu aesthetic.
  • Pixel Charm Pack: Custom Jibbitz charms in the form of floppy disks, the XP logo, the Start button, and the classic hourglass cursor.
  • Reboot Limited Edition: A glow-in-the-dark version symbolizing XP’s “restart” energy, bringing a futuristic twist to retro vibes.

Each pair has been designed with the same comfort-first ethos Crocs is known for while incorporating Microsoft’s nostalgia-driven aesthetics in vivid, high-quality detail.

Voices from the Collaboration

Speaking about the collaboration, Yusuf Mehdi, Microsoft’s Executive Vice President of Consumer Marketing, said: “Windows XP wasn’t just software—it was a cultural moment. Millions of people worldwide remember their very first steps into the digital age with XP. This partnership with Crocs lets us reimagine that memory in a new, playful way—by literally stepping into nostalgia.”

Michelle Poole, President of Crocs, added:

“Crocs has always been about self-expression and comfort, and our fans love when we merge culture, nostalgia, and fashion. Partnering with Microsoft to bring Windows XP’s timeless designs to our iconic clogs is about celebrating the intersection of technology and lifestyle. It’s fun, it’s bold, and it’s deeply nostalgic.”

Availability

The Windows XP x Crocs collection will launch globally on September 15, 2025, and will be available through Crocs.com, Microsoft’s official online store, and select retail outlets.

The collection will be released in limited quantities, with early access granted to Microsoft Rewards members and Crocs Club members. Prices will range from $69.99 to $99.99, depending on style and customization options.

Given the popularity of both brands’ past collaborations, fans are encouraged to mark their calendars and act quickly before pairs sell out.

A Step into Nostalgia, A Leap into Culture

This collaboration is more than just footwear—it’s a cultural crossover. It taps into the resurgence of Y2K nostalgia, which has fueled a wave of retro-inspired fashion, tech, and entertainment in recent years. By blending Microsoft’s tech legacy with Crocs’ playful lifestyle approach, the partnership speaks directly to millennials and Gen Z who grew up with XP desktops and Crocs clogs alike.

Whether you were a teenager discovering the internet in the early 2000s or you simply love bold fashion statements today, the Windows XP x Crocs collection is designed to evoke smiles, spark conversations, and turn everyday outfits into a walk down memory lane.
