Mafia Mukhtar Ansari has been sentenced to 10 years by Ghazipur’s MP MLA court and his brother BSP MP Afzal to 4 years in gangster case. The court also imposed a fine of Rs 5 lakh on Mukhtar and Rs 1 lakh on Afzal.
Mukhtar Ansari, lodged in Banda Jail, was produced through video conferencing, while Afzal himself reached the court. Afzal Ansari has been sentenced for more than two years. In such a situation, his parliament membership will also go.
It is being told that Afzal has been sent to Ghazipur Jail under tight security. They will be able to appeal against the decision in the High Court within 30 days. This Gangster Act case was registered by the police in 2007, two years after the murder of Krishnanand Rai (2005). The case was registered on the basis of arson, ruckus and kidnapping and murder of businessman Nand Kishore Rungta after Rai’s murder.
