Coal worth crores stolen in Rajasthan

The CID CB team of Rajasthan Police raided 13 places in 6 districts late on Thursday night and seized a large quantity of coal. This good quality coal lands at Gandhi Dham’s Kandla Port (Gujarat), then reaches other states including Punjab, Jammu Kashmir and Delhi via Rajasthan. This coal is used from making electricity to making cement.

According to ADG Crime, he received information from outside states that miscreants have set up illegal coal depots in different districts of Rajasthan. Where these people break the seal of the container, take out 30 percent good quality coal and put poor quality coal in it. After this, by putting the exactly visible seal in the container, it is forwarded.

According to the ADG, ‘On receiving the information, the police teams were activated and sent to the field. After a few days of recce, the CID CB team raided late at night. This raid was done in Jalore, Barmer, Jodhpur Commissionerate, Jodhpur Rural, Bikaner and Pali districts. During this, the police caught several miscreants and seized big vehicles including luxury cars from them. During this operation, the police arrested more than 19 people from the spot.

Police inquiry revealed that every day 500 to 600 containers from Kandla Port go to other states via Rajasthan. Out of these, the drivers of about 150 containers have contacts with these miscreants. The truck goes to the depot built near the highway and stands where the miscreants take out the good quality coal kept in the container and mix the same quantity of light quality coal in the container. At the same time, the fake seal like the seal in the Kandla port is re-attached to the container and sent ahead.

According to the information, this coal is stolen in half an hour during the lunch break of the driver, if he is also located in the GPS, then he can tell that he had stopped to eat food.

According to the information, coal worth about 10 lakh rupees goes in one container at a time. The miscreants would have taken out 30 percent of the goods from the container, which would have cost Rs 3 lakh. The same would have happened with 150 such containers leaving Rajasthan every day. These people sell this high quality coal in the market at a good price.

In fact, traders using coal in Punjab, Delhi and Jammu Kashmir came to know that the coal coming from Kandla port was getting defective, because the coal was getting cold faster than it should not be. The coal of Kandla port comes from abroad which does not cool down quickly. When they found out, it came to light that the goods of some containers were getting spoiled. In such a situation, the traders suspected that it was being adulterated while bringing coal. After this the police raided and busted it.

The accident took place late on Monday night in Sridungargarh, where there was a head-on collision between two bikes. The injured youths were admitted to the hospital in critical condition but three youths died between 10 pm and 1 am.

All the four occupants of both the bikes were seriously injured. Passengers took them to the hospital.
