Pune tightens restrictions on nightlife by closing bars at 1:30 am to control unruly behavior.

The Pune Police have instructed bars and permit rooms to close by 1:30 am without exception, beginning immediately. This measure, revealed on February 19, is in line with Section 144 of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC) and is a response to concerns about public safety incidents related to these venues.

“It has come to my notice that some guests/customers are indulging in disorderly behaviour and such ruckus is causing a sense of insecurity amongst fellow guests including women. To curb such incidents, the establishments have been instructed to follow rules and regulations,” as per the order issued by Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar. Some owners of these establishments are either not exercising due diligence to prevent such incidents, or are wilfully doing certain acts leading to such incidents, the official said. The order said all the bars and permit rooms shall strictly adhere to the outer time limit of 1:30 am and shut the establishments by 1:30 am sharp. “Indoor music performances will not be allowed after 1:30 am and orders for food and liquor cannot be taken after 1 am,” it said, as quoted by PTI.

Rajasthan offers variations with Jaipur closing at 1:30 am and Udaipur at 11:30 pm. Bihar’s prohibition dictates a 10 pm curfew, while some hill stations such as Shimla and Mussoorie prioritise quietude with even earlier shutdowns

Delhi NCR keeps the energy high until 2-3 am, while Mumbai, the city that never sleeps, boasts bars and clubs thriving until 3 am, with even later hours on weekends. Goa, a paradise for partygoers, extends the fun past 3 am in some areas. Major South Indian cities such as Hyderabad and Bangalore find a middle ground, with closing times around 1 am or 1:30 am.

Mumbai Woman Flags X User’s “Brothel” Remark On Her Video, Cops Respond, or so they really thought

The controversy erupted after Prateek Aaryan posted a video of Shruti Parija dancing at a college fest.

Mumbai police on Saturday responded to a woman who sought their help after an X user made a “kotha” (a term associated with brothels) reference to her dance video and refused to take the post down.

Talking to X, Shruti Parija alleged that she made “endless” requests to Prateek Aaryan to take down the video but he “refused”.

The controversy erupted after Mr Aaryan posted a video of Ms Parija dancing at a college fest.

The Indian schools and colleges are well known for organizing ‘sanskritik karyakram’ (cultural programme) and performances based on traditional and regional culture, but now it has become a ‘kotha’, he wrote on February 13.

“In the name of cultural events, shaking booty on item songs is all they call a cultural program.

Along with the education system, the cultural system is in danger in India. What a downfall for this generation and colleges in India,” Mr Aaryan added.

Two days later, Ms Parija commented on the post, which now has over 25 lakh views, and said that she was the girl in the video and that she did not “consent” for him to be reposting her video.

Ms Parija then tagged Mumbai Police’s X handle and said that she made “endless” requests to Mr Aaryan to take the down video but he “refused”.

“After endless requests made to Prateek Aaryan to take my video down from his post where he is comparing the stage I’m dancing on as a kotha, in turn defaming me and damaging my reputation, he has refused to do so and has blackmailed me instead,” she wrote.

How Madhya Pradesh Farmers Are Safeguarding Garlic In Fields Amid High Prices

I had planted garlic on 13 acres of land in which I have spent a total of Rs 25 lakh, till now I have sold the crop worth Rs 1 crore, and the crops are yet to be harvested,” Deshmukh told ANI on Sunday.

In the wake of surging prices of garlic in Madhya Pradesh’s Chhindwara, farmers have now come up with innovative measures to protect the produce by installing CCTV cameras in their fields.

The price of garlic has skyrocketed in the market, reaching an all-time high of Rs 400 to Rs 500 per kilogram, leaving farmers in both joy and distress.

The farmers adopted this unique way to stop their high-investment crops from being stolen.

Rahul Deshmukh, a Garlic cultivator who invested Rs 25 lakh in cultivating garlic across 13 acres has now received a huge return of nearly Rs 1 crore after selling garlic in the market.

“I had planted garlic on 13 acres of land in which I have spent a total of Rs 25 lakh, till now I have sold the crop worth Rs 1 crore, and the crops are yet to be harvested,” Mr Deshmukh told ANI on Sunday.

He further said that the affordable price of the solar-powered cameras helped him protest the crops.

  • I have used solar power in his field and also installed moving CCTV cameras for the safety of crops. 3 cameras have been installed to monitor garlic crops grown on 4 acres,” he added.
  • Meanwhile, another Garlic cultivator in Badnoor, Pawan Chaudhary said that they have spent Rs 4 lakh on his 4-acre garlic crop and reaped a profit of Rs 6 lakh.
  • “I installed three CCTV cameras to monitor my field. Two cameras are mine, while one camera is rented. My garlic was being stolen from my fields due to which I had to install these cameras,” he added.

According to the farmers, while the annual price of garlic typically reaches up to Rs 80 per kilogram, this season has seen a significant escalation, crossing Rs 300 per kilogram. Consequently, they have reaped substantial profits, marking the first instance of such a substantial increase in garlic prices.

Never before has the price of garlic surpassed this unprecedented level.
