The FASTag is a device affixed to a vehicle’s windshield and connected to either your bank account or a preloaded card.

As the vehicle equipped with a FASTag nears a toll booth, a scanner recognizes the tag and deducts the toll fee from the designated bank account or prepaid card.

After January 31, 2024, the NHAI stated that banks would deactivate Fastags that have valid balances but lack complete KYC information.

This rule ensured that each vehicle could only have one Fastag assigned to it, and each Fastag could only be linked to one car.
