The second semi-final of the T20 World Cup 2022 was played between India and England in Adelaide on Thursday. England won the toss and decided to bowl first. Team India scored 168 runs for six wickets in 20 overs. In reply, England team won the match by scoring 170 runs in 16 overs without losing any wicket. India’s performance in the semi-finals was disappointing.
After the defeat, Team India captain Rohit Sharma said, “Today was a very disappointing day. We batted well in the last over. We couldn’t bowl better. It was purely a matter of bearing the pressure in the knockout matches. All the players have played enough cricket to understand this situation. Many players have played pressure matches during IPL. We looked under pressure while bowling. Their openers (Jos Buttler and Alex Hales) have to be given credit. Both batted brilliantly. I think swing was coming from the first over but we didn’t bowl in the right direction. We took the pressure off in the match against Pakistan. Something similar happened against Bangladesh too, but today we could not do it.
England beat India by 10 wickets in the semi-final. England, batting brilliantly, achieved the target of 169 runs without losing any wicket. Alex Hales scored an unbeaten 86 off 47 balls for England. Captain Jos Buttler scored 80 runs off 49 balls. Four of India’s six bowlers conceded runs at an economy rate of more than 10. England entered the final after the loss while India were eliminated from the race.
