Gautam Adani has reclaimed the top position in the 2024 Hurun India Rich List, surpassing Mukesh Ambani of Reliance Industries Limited. Adani’s net worth has reached an impressive Rs 11.6 lakh crore, placing him at the forefront of the list.
Anas Rahman Junaid, Founder and Chief Researcher of Hurun India, noted, “India is becoming the wealth creation powerhouse of Asia! While the number of billionaires in China dropped by 25%, India saw a 29% increase, totaling a new high of 334 billionaires.”
In this year’s list, Mukesh Ambani ranks second with a considerable fortune of Rs 1,014,700 crore. Shiv Nadar and his family from HCL Technologies follow in third place with Rs 314,000 crore, while Cyrus Poonawalla and his family from the Serum Institute of India secure the fourth position, with Dilip Shanghvi of Sun Pharmaceutical Industries coming next.
Over the last five years, six individuals have consistently featured in the top 10. This year, the list is led by Gautam Adani and family, followed by Mukesh Ambani, Shiv Nadar, Cyrus Poonawalla, Gopichand Hinduja and family, and Radhakishan Damani and family.
The 2024 Hurun India Rich List also highlights its youngest entrants: 21-year-old Kaivalya Vohra, co-founder of the $5 billion rapid delivery startup Zepto, and 22-year-old Aadit Palicha, who is also a co-founder of Zepto.
Additionally, Bollywood star Shah Rukh Khan has made his debut on the list with a net worth of Rs 7,300 crore, primarily due to the increased value of his investment in Kolkata Knight Riders. His wealth has also risen significantly from earnings associated with his production company, Chillies Entertainment.
