Gorakhpur: An elephant was killed during a yajna ceremony at Mohammadpur Mafi village in Jagatbela, Uttar Pradesh. The angry elephant has crushed many people. Three people have died in this incident. Cm Yogi has also expressed grief over the incident and has directed to give a compensation of Rs 5 lakh to the family of the deceased.
Villagers said, “Yagya was taking place in the village. The elephant was brought for worship. During the puja, some people were teasing the elephant, due to which it became disoriented and became violent. Efforts are being made to control it. Villagers say that before the Kalash Yatra, a yajna was being performed in the pandal. A crowd of people gathered at the spot. There was a lot of noise there. During this time some people were teasing the elephant, due to which it got angry and started running around.
According to the villagers, the Kalash Yatra was to be taken out in the village. Preparations were going on in the village for this. Women were going to fill water for the Kalash Yatra. The elephant was brought here to join the procession. There were more than a thousand people in the pandal on the spot. There was a crowd to see the elephant and take photos with it. The elephant got angry because of the crowd. Two women and a child were killed in the incident.
