PANDAVESWAR, West Bengal — Grassroots advocate and public facilitator Animesh Banerjee has rolled out an expansive citizen-support network across the mining settlements of Pandaveswar, aiming to dismantle procedural delays and deliver direct municipal grievance redressal to working-class families across Paschim Bardhaman.
The initiative introduces localized, walk-in community clinics across rural wards and Eastern Coalfields Limited (ECL) worker colonies. Guided by his community motto “We Serve People” (আমরা মানুষের সেবা করি), Banerjee’s campaign focuses on immediate frontline interventions: assisting laborers and unorganized households with official documentation for welfare schemes, tracking unresolved civic representations, and accelerating access to essential social security.
Beyond welfare documentation, the drive takes direct aim at long-neglected infrastructure vulnerabilities across the Damodar Valley coalfields. Teams mobilized under the initiative are submitting actionable petitions to local civic bodies to restore potable drinking water pipelines, clear choked drainage systems, install street lighting, and repair freight-damaged arterial roadways heavily impacted by coal transport.
Banerjee, who grew up in the industrial hub of Benachity, Durgapur, and holds a degree in English Literature, previously operated in corporate telecommunications client relations before serving as an auxiliary Civic Volunteer assisting local police and civil administrative units. Colleagues and local community organizers cite his background in corporate dispute management and public safety as the foundation for his structured, conflict-neutral approach to constituent mediation.
“Public service cannot function from behind distant administrative desks while working-class families struggle for basic civic utilities and identity credentials,” Banerjee said during an address to local volunteers. “Our mission in Pandaveswar is straightforward: deliver accessible, face-to-face solutions to every resident and ensure local governance responds to ground realities.”
The walk-in desks are now functioning as permanent community access points across Pandaveswar, providing ongoing escalation tracking and municipal coordination for local residents and colliery labor communities.
