A wax statue of former President Abraham Lincoln in Washington DC suffered severe damage due to extremely high temperatures, causing its head and legs to detach while the supporting chair sank into the ground. The statue, part of The Wax Monument Series by artist Sandy Williams IV, is now undergoing repairs at the site near Garrison Elementary School. This Lincoln Memorial replica symbolizes the history of Civil War-era Contraband Camps in Washington DC and is part of a series showcasing wax replicas of famous public monuments and symbols.
