Kerala’s first Vande Bharat Express train starts, will connect 11 districts

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday flagged off the first Vande Bharat Express train to Kerala. PM Modi also inaugurated the country’s first water metro service and digital science park.

Prime Minister Modi reached Thiruvananthapuram Central Station at 11 am and flagged off the Vande Bharat Express train between Thiruvananthapuram-Kasaragod. This train will cover 11 districts namely Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Kottayam, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Palakkad, Pathanamthitta, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Kannur and Kasaragod. The PM also inaugurated the rail electrification of the Dindigul-Palani-Palakkad section.

After this, the Prime Minister inaugurated the country’s first Digital Science Park and the country’s first water metro service in Thiruvananthapuram. The metro built in Port City Kochi will connect Kochi City to 10 nearby islands. The project consists of 78 electric boats and 38 terminals at a cost of Rs 1,136.83 crore.
