Five people were killed in a road accident in Rajasthan’s Jodhpur. The dead include three children, a woman and a young man, while two girls were injured in the accident.
The incident took place at 3 pm on the National Highway going from Phalodi to Bikaner. One injured girl has been referred to Jodhpur. After getting information about the accident, the police reached the spot and kept the bodies in the mortuary of Phalodi district hospital. All the people in the pickup belonged to the same family and all were residents of Jamba village in Baap Block. This village is located about 25 kilometers from Phalodi.
According to the information, all had come to Phalodi for wedding preparations and shopping at the relatives of the Bishnoi family. After shopping in Phalodi, all of them were returning to their village Jamba. In such a situation, the pickup had reached 2 kilometers ahead of the city when the tanker coming from Bikaner hit the pickup near the petrol pump. The collision was so severe that the pickup was badly damaged and the front wheels of the tanker came out. The truck driver fled from the spot after the accident.
The drivers of the pick-up, Parvat, Urmila, Vikas, Praveen and Raveena died on the spot. Arpita and Isani, who were injured in the accident, were admitted to Phalodi District Hospital, from where Arpita was referred to Jodhpur. Isani was discharged after treatment after sustaining minor injuries.
