 The CSC was established in 2020 when India, Sri Lanka and Maldives agreed to expand the scope and  composition  of  the  trilateral meeting on maritime cooperation.

National Security Advisor Ajit Doval on Thursday  emphasized  the importance of the regional  grouping’s  Colombo Security  Conference  (CSC) in ensuring security and stability in the region.  He made the remarks while  speaking at  the sixth NSA-level  CSC  meeting  in Port Louis, Mauritius.  CSC  member  countries  are India, Maldives, Mauritius and Sri Lanka. Bangladesh and Seychelles are observers in the  group. Member states  reiterated the role and responsibility of the CSC in ensuring the safety, security and stability of the Indian Ocean region  against  traditional and non-traditional  threats. 

 Indian High Commission in Mauritius said the high-level meeting agreed on  the operational  roadmap  for 2024.  Colombo Security  Council  (CSC)  meeting  today in  Mauritius,”  the  high-level committee announced  on X.  “In  his statement, NSA Shri Ajit Doval  emphasized  the  important  role of  the  CSC in ensuring regional security  and  stability, and emphasized  the  importance  of  continuing commitments  under the  pillars  different  cooperation. Members also agreed on  the operating roadmap  for 2024,”  the press release  said.

 It is  known  that the meeting reviewed regional security scenarios and  measures  to  strengthen  security cooperation.  The CSC was established in 2020 when India, Sri Lanka and Maldives agreed to expand the scope and  composition  of  the  trilateral meeting on maritime cooperation.

  Maurice participated in  the fifth  meeting of the  NSA conclave  last  March.  Cooperation  within  the  CSF  focuses on five  pillars, which are  maritime safety and security,  counter-terrorism  and  radicalization, counter-trafficking  and transnational  organized  crime, cyber security and  facility  protection  critical  infrastructure, as well as  humanitarian  aid  and disaster relief.  Bangladesh and Seychelles have  participated in previous trilateral  meetings  on maritime cooperation as well as the CSC as observer  countries. 

 At the meeting in Port Louis,  Member States  reviewed the progress of  decisions taken at the previous  meeting at NSA level. 

 Over the past year,  CSC  member  countries  and observer  countries have engaged  in a number of activities covering areas such as marine pollution, coastal  safety,  oceanography and  hydrology, and anti-funding responses. for  terrorism and  investigating terrorism  cases,  sources  familiar with the matter said.
