L. Victoria Gowri, who was the national general secretary of the Bharatiya Janata Mahila Morcha, has now become a judge of the Madras High Court. Gauri took oath on Tuesday amid uproar and protests. A petition was also filed in the Supreme Court against his appointment. Which was rejected by the Supreme Court.
In fact, in the petition filed in the Supreme Court by 22 lawyers of the Madras High Court against the appointment, three main arguments were made. According to which L. Victoria Gauri has called Muslim green terror and Christian as white terror. Such a statement is against the Constitution. She has been the General Secretary of BJP National Women’s Front. In such a situation, his appointment will raise questions on the impartiality of the judiciary. The third argument was that the person who took oath as a judge should have full faith in the Constitution. His statements and actions don’t seem to be the case.
But after hearing this petition, Justice Sanjeev Khanna of the Supreme Court said that the statements being mentioned are from 2018. I believe the collegium must have considered the matter before deciding on Gauri’s name. After which L. Victoria Gowri has now become a judge of the Madras High Court.
