The Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) and the National Stock Exchange (NSE) will be closed on March 8 for Mahashivratri. The commodity derivatives segment will have a morning session closure but will open in the evening. Trading will resume on Monday, March 11.
On March 7, the market saw record highs with Nifty surpassing 22,500 and BSE Sensex reaching 74,245.17 before closing slightly lower. Top gainers included Tata Steel, Bajaj Auto, Tata Consumer, Tata Motors, and JSW Steel, while top losers were M&M, BPCL, Reliance Industries, Axis Bank, and ICICI Bank.
The week saw a 0.5 percent rise in both BSE Sensex and Nifty. The rupee closed higher at 82.78 per US Dollar on Thursday compared to the previous day’s 82.83.
Banks in many states will also be closed on March 8 for Mahashivratri, excluding a few states like Tripura, Mizoram, Tamil Nadu, and others.
