The Indian Army intervenes to aid residents affected by severe flooding in Pune caused by heavy rainfall

Published on

Intense rainfall has caused widespread chaos in the city, resulting in waterlogging, flooding, and landslides, with no signs of the rain easing up in the coming days.

Underground passages were flooded, and transportation services like buses, flights, and trains faced delays due to continuous rain from the overcast skies.

Numerous residential areas in low-lying regions such as Sinhagad Road, Bavdhan, Baner, and Deccan Gymkhana experienced severe flooding.

Efforts are underway by the fire brigade and disaster management team of the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) to rescue those stranded by the floods, according to officials cited by PTI.

Despite no current flooding in Sinhagad Road and successful evacuation of those in need, authorities have ensured provision of meals, clothes, and other necessities for the rescued individuals.

As the situation deteriorated, the government enlisted the help of the Indian Army, which swiftly initiated rescue operations. The Southern Command of the Indian Army also utilized X to broadcast visuals of their efforts.
