The expert committee appointed by the Supreme Court in the Hindenburg case has submitted its report, which has been ordered by the Supreme Court to be submitted to the concerned parties. The next hearing in the case will be on July 11. This expert committee will continue to help the Supreme Court even further. Moreover, the Supreme Court has also given SEBI a three-month extension to investigate the matter, and now they have been given time till August 14.
Chief Justice D.Y. During the hearing, Chandrachud said sebi cannot be given unlimited time for this investigation. SEBI will have to submit a status report by August 14, and after that the court can consider an extension. The CJI said that if SEBI is facing any real difficulty in the investigation, then tell me. “We could have given you time till September 30, but you tell us at what stage the investigation is and give an updated status report of the investigation,” he said.
The court said that the expert committee has submitted the report keeping in mind the stipulated time limit of two months, so that the court and the concerned parties are able to analyze the report and consider the suggestions of the expert committee. The supreme court-appointed expert committee’s report will now be heard on July 11, and SEBI has to file an interim status report of the probe by August 14. The apex court also said that the expert committee will continue to assist the court.
