India, the world’s largest coconut producer, generates over ₹30,000 crores annually from coconut-based products. Capitalizing on opportunities in India’s Food & Beverage and Agro-Processing sectors, Sakthi Coco Products (SCP) has emerged as an industry leader through innovation, an extensive product range, and a dedicated customer base.

Foundational Journey
Established in 1981 by industrial expert Mr. C.M. Kamaraj, SCP pioneered Tamil Nadu’s first mechanized coir fiber exports (Sakthi Coir Exports). Hailing from an agricultural family in Pollachi, Kamaraj leveraged his MBA and business acumen to revolutionize coconut processing. Early collaborations (1983) with biscuit manufacturers like Britannia established SCP’s reputation for premium desiccated coconut powder.

Innovation & Growth
In 2002, SCP transformed waste coir dust into high-value Coco Peat, a soil alternative for horticulture. Developed with Tamil Nadu Agricultural University (TNAU), this innovation positioned SCP as India’s first Coco Peat exporter to Europe and Australia.

In 2003, SCP became India’s first company to commercialize bottled tender coconut water. Overcoming initial technical challenges with support from the Coconut Development Board (CDB) and Defence Food Research Laboratory (DFRL), SCP now produces 100,000 PET bottles/Tetra Packs daily of extended-shelf-life tender coconut water.
Accolades & Leadership
Mr. C.M. Kamaraj’s vision led to his 18-year appointment on Indian government Coconut/Twine Board committees. His accolades include:

  • Repeated “Best Exporter” awards from Twine Board & MSME Ministry
  • National recognition for marketing coconut shell ice cream cups during the Barcelona Olympics
  • Presidency of the All India Twine Manufacturers’ Association
