Indian captain Rohit Sharma was praised for his generous gesture when he offered to give up his INR 5 crore bonus to address the low pay issue for some support staff. The BCCI had awarded a 125 crore cash prize to the T20 World Cup winning team, with 15 squad members and the head coach receiving 5 crores each, and coaches receiving 2.5 crores each.

Rohit Sharma learned that some support staff were paid lesser amounts and stood up for them, expressing that they also deserved more money and expressing his willingness to forgo his own bonus. His compassion and kindness earned him admiration from fans on social media, who hailed him as a man with a heart of gold.
