A woman was allegedly raped by a man in Rajasthan’s Barmer district, police said on Sunday. The woman, who suffered severe burn injuries, died during treatment. The woman had suffered about 50 per cent burns from face to waist. Police have registered a case and arrested the accused.
The shocking incident took place on Thursday in Pachpadra police station area of Balotra in Barmer district. According to the police, Shakoor Khan raped the married woman on Thursday afternoon after finding her alone in a dhani under Pachpadra police station area. When the victim started screaming, Haiwan set her on fire. In such a situation, the woman suffered serious burns, who was brought to a private hospital in Balotra for treatment, where she was referred to Jodhpur in view of her serious condition, but she died during treatment.
According to the police, the husband of the deceased has reported that he works as a labourer in Balotra and he lives in Dhani along with his family. On Thursday, he went to Balotra to work as a labourer. His two sons and two daughters went to school. Meanwhile, at around 3 pm on Thursday, the family received a call that his wife was raped by Shakoor Khan and set on fire by putting thinner with him. On hearing the victim’s screams, the family rushed to the spot, by which time the accused fled. “Around 2 pm, Shakoor saw her alone and entered the dhani and forcibly dragged her to the room and raped her. On hearing the woman’s screams, the woman of the family reached the spot, but after pushing her down, Shakoor sprinkled thinner on her and set her on fire.
