PM Narendra Modi has today launched the PM Vishwakarma Scheme for traditional artisans and craftsmen. 30 lakh families are going to get benefits under this scheme. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has launched the Pradhan Mantri Vishwakarma Yojana on the occasion of Vishwakarma Jayanti at the India International Convention and Expo Center Dwarka, New Delhi.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the ‘PM Vishwakarma’ scheme on the occasion of ‘Vishwakarma Jayanti’ on Sunday. Under this scheme, traditional craftsmen and artisans will be provided loan assistance at minimum interest rates without any guarantee.
Interest will be available at low rates
With a financial outlay of Rs 13,000 crore for a period of five years, the scheme will benefit about 30 lakh families of traditional artisans and craftsmen, including weavers, goldsmiths, blacksmiths, laundry workers and barbers.

The scheme aims to increase the reach and quality of products and services offered by traditional artisans and craftsmen. The scheme offers collateral-free enterprise development loans of Rs 1 lakh (1st installment for 18 months repayment) and Rs 2 lakh (2nd installment for 30 months repayment).
Central government will bear the credit guarantee fee
According to news agency PTI, a concessional interest rate of 5 percent will be charged from the beneficiary along with the interest rebate limit of 8 percent given by the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises. The credit guarantee fee will be borne by the Central Government. The scheme also includes benefits like recognition as Vishwakarma through a certificate and ID card and skill verification after 5-7 days of basic training. Interested candidates can also enroll for 15 days advanced training and will be given a stipend of Rs 500 per day.
You will get benefits on digital transactions
Additionally, a grant of Rs 15,000 as toolkit incentive and an incentive of Rs 1 per transaction up to 100 transactions monthly will be provided for digital transactions. The National Committee on Marketing (NCM) will provide services such as quality certification, branding and publicity, e-commerce linkage, trade fair advertising, promotion and other marketing activities.
The age of the beneficiary should be 18 years
An artisan or craftsman working with hands and tools and engaged on a self-employment basis in the unorganized sector in one of the 18 family-based traditional occupations mentioned in the scheme will be eligible for registration under PM Vishwakarma. To enroll in this, the minimum age of the beneficiary should be 18 years.
