PM Modi announced a social security agreement and highlighted Kabaddi’s role as a connection between India and Poland

Published on

In Warsaw, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced a new social security agreement between India and Poland, underscoring the strengthening partnership in technology and clean energy. He highlighted the growing cultural connection, noting that Poland will host the Kabaddi Championship for the first time this year. Modi praised the game’s popularity in India and acknowledged Poland’s achievements in Kabaddi, including being the European champion for two years.

Addressing the Indian community, Modi emphasized India’s global vision, rooted in the principle of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam, or “the world is one family.” He spoke about upcoming meetings with Polish leaders Donald Tusk and Andrzej Duda, aimed at furthering bilateral ties. Modi also drew parallels between the democracies of India and Poland, emphasizing India’s vast and efficient electoral system.

Modi outlined India’s rapid progress over the past decade, noting significant achievements in poverty reduction, digital financial inclusion, and broadband expansion. He praised the country’s advancements in public transport and electric vehicle sales, and highlighted efforts in green energy and high-tech missions, including semiconductor and space projects.

He contrasted today’s India with past policies of distance, emphasizing a new approach of closer international relations. Modi also reflected on India’s role in global humanitarian efforts, recalling the aid provided during the COVID-19 pandemic and support for Indian students during the Ukraine conflict. He expressed gratitude for the warm reception from the Indian community in Poland and praised the Polish government’s support.

Modi’s visit marks the first trip by an Indian Prime Minister to Poland in 45 years, coinciding with the 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
