During a phone call regarding Ukraine, PM Modi emphasized India’s unwavering stance advocating for dialogue and diplomacy, and conveyed complete support for the prompt restoration of peace and stability.

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke with US President Joe Biden today, discussing Modi’s recent visit to Ukraine and the situation in Bangladesh, among other topics. Regarding Ukraine, PM Modi reaffirmed India’s long-standing stance advocating for dialogue and diplomacy, expressing strong support for an early return to peace and stability.

During his historic visit to Ukraine, Modi called for a diplomatic resolution to the ongoing conflict with Russia that has persisted for over two years. “We were not neutral from the beginning; we have taken a side and stand firmly for peace,” he told Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.

Modi and Biden also expressed concerns about the situation in Bangladesh, stressing the need to restore law and order and ensure the safety of minorities, particularly Hindus, amid alarming reports of violence against them following Sheikh Hasina’s ousting. The interim government in Bangladesh has pledged to restore stability and protect all minority groups.

Additionally, Modi and Biden reviewed the significant advancements in bilateral relations, emphasizing that the India-US partnership is intended to benefit both nations and humanity as a whole.
