NHAI signs pact  to build  logistics park in Nagpur

The  National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has signed an agreement with a private company to develop a Rs  673-crore .

Multi-Modal Logistics Park (MMLP) in  Nagpur, a statement on Tuesday said. ,  spread over an area of  ​​150 acres.  

The  park will  be developed  under  a  public-private partnership, whose partner is  DC Multi Modal Park  (Nagpur), a  special purpose vehicle  launched  by DeltaBulk Shipping India.  This  project  will become Maharashtra’s  first MMLP  under  Prime Minister  Gati  Shakti’s national master plan.  

Under the Bharatmala  project, NHAI’s  National Highways Logistics Management  (NHMLL) subsidiary is tasked with developing  35  multi-modal  logistics parks  across  the country, wherever possible with  partnerships.  public-private  work. The government’s contribution  in  developing  these parks is estimated  at  Rs 50,000 crore. 

 Nagpur logistics  zone  is the fifth  zone allocated  under  this  plan. In  September,  the  deal  was signed for a 400-acre  Multi-Modal Logistics Park  (MMLP)  in Bengaluru  at  a  cost  of  Rs  1,770  crore. 

 The others  are located in Chennai and Indore.  Jogigopa Park  near Guwahati in Assam is  being built  at  a  cost of Rs 693 crore and is expected to be completed this year. 

 The development  of MMLP is a key initiative of the Government of India  aimed at improving  the  country’s cargo  logistics sector by enabling efficient  multi-modal transportation of goods  to  reduce  costs and  overall transit  time, provide efficient warehousing, improve tracking and  tracing  of  shipments,  thereby enhancing the efficiency of the Indian logistics  industry.  

 Nagpur MMLP will be developed in three phases.  Phase I  with an investment of  Rs  137 crore is expected to be completed in two years. The site is strategically  located, about  3 km from Nagpur – Mumbai Maha-Samruddhi Mahamarg on one side and Howrah – Nagpur – Mumbai  railway  line on  the  other side.  The  3.0 km  rail link  from Sindi  railway  station  on the Howrah-Nagpur-Mumbai railway  line  has largely been  completed. 

 MMLP is also  accessible  from  the four-lane Nagpur–Aurangabad,  NH 361.  It  is 48 km from Nagpur International Airport and 56 km from Nagpur  Railway Station.
