More than 200 events to be held in Yashobhoomi in next 2 years, double growth expected in MICE industry

 More than 200 exhibitions and conferences are planned for the next two years at Yashobhoomi, the country’s largest convention centre.  Prime Minister Modi inaugurated it in Dwarka, Delhi on his birthday on 17 September.  Presently India ranks 28th due to less number of events organised.  Read the complete news.

New Delhi, Agency: More than 200 exhibitions and conferences have been planned in the next 2 years at Yashobhoomi, the country’s largest convention centre.

 PM Modi had inaugurated the India International Convention and Expo Center (IICC) – Yashobhoomi in Dwarka, Delhi on 17th September i.e. his birthday.

According to a senior government official, the focus of these events will be digital innovation, hospitality, entertainment, healthcare, automobile, infrastructure, travel and tourism and smart manufacturing.

There will be double growth in MICE industry

 Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh said the convention centre will help India double the growing MICE (meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions) industry.  India’s share in the Rs 25 lakh crore MICE sector is less than 1 percent.

India ranked 28th due to less programs being organised

 India ranked 28th with 158 meetings in the 2019 International Congress and Convention Association (ICCA) list due to the low number of events held in the country.  Talking about Delhi, it is at 75th place in the list of 475 cities.

Yashobhoomi is spread over an area of ​​more than 221 acres.

 The entire project of Yashobhoomi is built on an area of ​​221.37 acres in Dwarka Sector 25 at an estimated cost of Rs 25,703 crore.  The total area of ​​the project is more than 123 acres of Bharat Mandapam.

According to the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, it is expected that the government wants to include New Delhi in the list of Shanghai, Hong Kong and Singapore in the field of exhibition market.

 China ranks first in Asia

 Talking about Asia, China has more than 68 per cent (4.1 million square metre) of the total available space for exhibition facilities, while India has only 0.3 million square metre, which is 4.9 percent of Asia.
