 Minister of State for IT Rajiv Chandrashekhar said through a social media post that for those who remember, net neutrality in India was an uphill battle that started during the UPA government and peaked in 2015-2016.  Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s approach has made India one of the first countries in the world to ensure net neutrality.

New Delhi, Sep 29 (IANS) Minister of State for Electronics and IT Rajeev Chandrashekhar on Friday said India is one of the first countries in the world to ensure net neutrality.  Responding to the debate triggered by pressure from private telecom companies to give a fair share to over-the-top (OTT) service access in their infrastructure, Minister of State for Electronics and Information Technology Rajiv Chandrashekhar came out strongly in favor of net neutrality.  Have adopted.  Minister of State for IT Rajiv Chandrashekhar said through a social media post that for those who remember, net neutrality in India was an uphill battle that started during the UPA government and peaked in 2015-2016.

I led an effort where more than 5 lakh Indians wrote to TRAI protesting efforts by some telecom companies to cable the Internet.  He further said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision has made India one of the first countries in the world to ensure net neutrality.

Praise of PM Modi

 The minister said that decision by PM Modi was a key factor in India becoming the world-leading innovation economy with this vibrant global standard startup ecosystem that we see today.  On Thursday, IAMAI once again opposed TRAI’s proposal to impose selective ban on OTT/Internet services, saying such demand to impose revenue sharing system between internet companies and telecom service providers (TSPs) is “rent seeking”.  Kind of”.

Talk on licensing system

 IAMAI also flagged the demands made by Cellular Operators Association of India (COAI) and Indian Council for Research on International Economic Relations (ICRIER) in favor of telecom service providers.

 TRAI in July began the process to examine the issue of regulating OTT communication apps.  Earlier this month, 11 consumer groups had said the proposal would lead to over-regulation and create regulatory uncertainty in the domestic market.
