Manipur resumes violence, internet suspended till May 26

Violence has been reported once again in the northeastern state of Manipur after 18 days. In the capital Imphal, miscreants set fire to vacant houses on Monday. In view of the violence, the government has deployed the army in the area. Curfew has also been imposed in the disturbed areas. The government has also banned the internet till May 26.

According to media reports, on Monday morning, there was a fight between the Maitei and Kuki community over space in the local market. After this, the miscreants set fire to some houses. In view of the violence, the army was called in. Police have arrested two miscreants, weapons have also been recovered from them.

According to the information, more than 10 thousand people have been displaced due to violence in the state so far. The government has ordered the rioters to be shot. So far 74 people have died in violent incidents, more than 230 people have been injured and 1700 houses have been burnt.
