Conspiracy hatched to terrorise Mangaluru by posing as Hindu, injured in blast
A boy named Premraj Hutgi handed over an auto at Naguri bus stand in Mangaluru, Karnataka. The driver Purushottam made Premraj sit and left for Pumpwell junction. The auto had reached some distance when there was a loud explosion. A plume of white smoke spread around. Premraj’s body suffered 40% burns and the driver 20%.
But now the police investigation revealed that the blast was not in the tyre, but in the pressure cooker, which Premraj was carrying. It was actually a bomb blast. The next day, Karnataka DGP Praveen Sood told the media that it was not a common blast but a terrorist attack. Its purpose was also big.
Not only this, the police made a bigger disclosure. Premraj was not actually Premraj but Mohammad Shariq. It is a terrorist associated with ISIS i.e. Islamic State of Iraq and Syria, which has caused havoc in Syria and Iraq. Who went out to fulfill his terrorist plans by keeping a Hindu name.
According to the information, when the police reached the address of the Aadhaar card found in the pocket of Mohammad Shariq admitted in the hospital, it was found that the Aadhaar card was fake. Shariq, who had made the Aadhaar card in the name of Premraj, is a railway employee and posted in Tumkur, Karnataka.
On the other hand, the real Premraj’s Aadhaar card has been lost twice in the last two years. He had not informed the police about losing his Aadhaar card. He had a unique ID, through which he had printed another card.
According to the information, Shariq had rented a room on the outskirts of Mysuru with the help of a fake Aadhaar card named Premraj one-and-a-half months ago. On November 20, 2022, the police raided this room. During the raid, explosive-making material was found from the room. Which includes gelatin powder, circuit board, battery, mobile, wood sawdust, aluminum multi meter, wire, bolt and pressure cooker.
A fake PAN card and FINO debit card along with two more fake Aadhaar cards were also found from the room in the raid. The terrorist was preparing to make shariq and explosives. He rented the house last month. He had told the landlord that he had come to the city to take training in mobile repairing.
The SIM card that terrorist Shariq was using was bought by him from Coimbatore. Shariq had used the credentials of his associate Surendran to buy the SIM. The Tamil Nadu Police have now taken Surendran into custody. Shariq had also visited Kerala and Tamil Nadu before coming to Mysuru.
Shariq, a resident of Thirthahalli in Shivamogga district of Karnataka, was involved in extremist activities in the past. Shariq is wanted on August 15, 2020, on charges of inciting communal tension in Shivamogga. There was a controversy over the poster of Hindutva ideologue Veer Savarkar on Independence Day. During this time 2 people were stabbed. Two of the accused, Maaz and Syed Yasin, were arrested under the UAPA. Shariq was declared a proclaimed offender.
Also, on November 27, 2020, a day after the anniversary of the 26/11 Mumbai terror attack, Shariq fell under the UAPA for allegedly making graffiti on a wall in Mangaluru
