Prabhakaran, the chief of the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE), is being claimed to be alive. World Confederation of Tamils President P Nedumaran has issued a statement in Thanjavur, Tamil Nadu, claiming this. According to the Sri Lankan army, they killed Prabhakaran in a military operation in 2009. Prabhakaran was a Sri Lankan terrorist who wanted a separate Tamil country.

“Tamil national leader Prabhakaran is alive. He also said that he was making this disclosure with the consent of Prabhakaran’s family. He claimed that the LTTE chief is alive and healthy, he will soon come out and announce a new plan for a better life for Tamils.

Nedumaran made the claim while speaking to mediapersons at the Mullivakkal Memorial in Thanjavur. He said this was the right time for Prabhakaran to come out of the international situation and the powerful revolt of the Sinhalese people against the Rajapaksa regime in Sri Lanka. He said that after his information, the rumors about the LTTE leader will stop.

He also called upon the Tamil Nadu government, parties and the people of Tamil Nadu to stand with Prabhakaran. Let us tell you that the then Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi had signed an agreement with the Sri Lankan government and sent the army to stop the activities of the LTTE in Sri Lanka. With this, the LTTE planned to take revenge on Rajiv Gandhi and killed him. Former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi was assassinated by LTTE supporters.
