Lalu Prasad Yadav’s bail plea: CBI reopens old file

Former Bihar Chief Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav’s troubles are going to increase again. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has started a re-investigation against him in a corruption case. The case is being reported as corruption in railway projects. Lalu Yadav was handling this portfolio in the UPA-1 government. It is alleged that there was corruption then. The CBI had started investigation in this case in 2018, which was closed in May 2021. The case is now open again.

Lalu is facing a crisis as an inquiry into allegations of corruption in projects of The Indian Railways begins. He has been convicted in other cases in the past and has been in jail for a long time. Lalu was named as the main accused in the fodder scam, besides corruption charges even when he was handling portfolios of railway projects in the UPA-I government. According to reports, apart from Lalu Yadav, his son and Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav and daughters Chanda Yadav and Ragini Yadav have also been named as accused in the case.

Lalu Yadav’s RJD is currently in power with which Nitish Kumar-led Janata Dal United has formed an alliance. Lalu’s son Tejashwi Yadav is the Deputy Chief Minister of Bihar. At the same time, Lalu Prasad Yadav himself has been the Chief Minister of Bihar. His wife also took over this responsibility. Nitish Kumar is currently the Chief Minister.
