The situation in Maharashtra’s Akola city and Shevgaon in Ahmednagar district after the communal violence that erupted over the past two days is now under control. Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has directed to take strict action against the culprits of Akola, Shevgaon riots. Cm Shinde has also appealed to the people to cooperate in maintaining social harmony while taking care that no one’s feelings are hurt. Police have so far detained over 130 people in connection with the violence. One person was killed and 13 others were injured in the clashes.
CM Eknath Shinde has urged the public not to take the law into their own hands, be careful and responsible while posting anything on social media. The CM has said that take care that your post does not create social tension and does not hurt anyone’s feelings. Police have detained over 100 people in Akola and 32 in Shevgaon. Police have imposed Section 144 in Hariharpeth area of Akola. Internet services have been suspended in Akola and Shegaon to prevent the spread of rumours.
Actually, the violence started with a post related to The Kerala Story. In which one person died after two people were beaten up and violence erupted.
