Mumbai, known as the Maximum City, is experiencing heavy rainfall during the current monsoon season with a red alert issued by the India Meteorological Department (IMD) indicating extreme weather conditions. The recent heavy rainfall has broken records in Mumbai, with the IMD Santa Cruz observatory reporting 268 mm of rain in 24 hours, the second-highest July rainfall in 15 years. The intense downpour was attributed to an offshore trough that strengthened during the early morning hours.

Looking ahead on the Mumbai weekly weather forecast from July 8 to July 14, expect consistently cloudy skies with varying levels of rainfall. Temperatures are set to increase slightly from 25°C to 30°C today, with heavy rain. The forecast predicts a further rise in temperature on July 10 to 26°C to 31°C with moderate rain, followed by heavy rain on July 11 and 12 and continuous rain on July 13 and 14, with temperatures ranging from 24°C to 29°C. The week ahead will be wet and cloudy with significant rainfall expected on most days.

Observational data from IMD indicates that the Santa Cruz observatory recorded rapid rainfall increments during short intervals, highlighting the intensity of the rainfall.
