From Paper Bags to AI and Fintech: The Entrepreneurial Journey of Mr. Sankar Rao

Published on

New Delhi: From a small village in Andhra Pradesh to building ventures across fintech, AI, e-commerce, and renewable energy — the story of Mr. Sankar Rao, Founder of Sankar Group, is a true example of grit, self-learning, and long-term entrepreneurship.

Born on 28 August 1988 in Talatampara Village, Kanchili Mandalam, Srikakulam District, Andhra Pradesh, Mr. Rao’s journey of earning started early. In 2001, after completing his 7th standard, he began making paper bags and supplying them to nearby kirana stores to earn independently. In 2002, he worked part-time as a soft-drink delivery boy on a bicycle, and during his diploma studies in 2004, he supported himself by working in packing and delivery at a medical wholesale shop.

From E-commerce to Technology

Mr. Rao entered e-commerce in 2006 as an eBay seller — according to his account, the first registered eBay vendor from Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. In 2011, he became a partner in No Credit Shop in Berhampur, Odisha, successfully merging offline retail with online selling on Snapdeal and Amazon. He ventured into telecom in 2014 with an Airtel postpaid franchise, consistently reporting top two monthly sales rankings, and later expanded to Airtel distribution and a Vodafone prepaid distribution franchise for the entire Srikakulam district. In 2016, he founded YESKART, a hyperlocal e-commerce platform connecting online and offline retail through product and price comparison.

Expanding Across Emerging Industries

Recognizing the future of neo-banking, he founded Digipe Fintech in 2019, building accessible and secure banking solutions for businesses, merchants, and customers. The platform has since acquired over 6 lakh customers.

His entrepreneurial expansion continued with Sankars Agri & Infra (2022), followed by two ventures in 2024 — Surefy, focused on AI-driven business solutions, and Mierae Solar, in the renewable energy sector.

In 2025, he launched Mandee Mart for solar equipment wholesale, and in 2026, he started building InstaJobs — a platform for gig-work and internship opportunities — along with Crenzo, a brand outreach venture specializing in influencer marketing.

From paper bags to digital platforms, Mr. Sankar Rao’s journey proves that early struggles, continuous learning, and adaptability can become the foundation for building businesses across diverse industries.
