Udaipur: The Udaipur police have registered a case against Pandit Dhirendra Krishna Shastri of Bageshwar Dham for allegedly making inflammatory speeches. The police have taken this action regarding one of his statements at a dharma sabha held at Gandhi Ground a day earlier. In the Dharma Sabha, he had called upon the people to install saffron flags in the Kumbhalgarh Fort of Rajsamand district, which has 100 green flags.
The police have considered it to be inciting religious violence. Taking cognizance of his statement, a case was registered at Hathipol police station in the city. Udaipur SP Vikas Sharma said that his statement is provocative and controversial.
Dainik Bhaskar quoted Additional SP Chandrasheel Thakur as saying that “Provocative words were used by Pandit Dhirendra Shastri to increase the dispute between communities. After this statement, some youths also tried to make a product on the Kumbhalgarh Fort on Thursday night. Five youths have been arrested in connection with the case. A case has been registered against all of them at Kelwada police station.
Let us tell you that a dharma sabha was organized on Thursday at Gandhi Ground in Udaipur city. In this, along with Pandit Dhirendra Shastri, katha marmagya Pandit Devkinandan Thakur and Sant Uttam Swami Sahim of Banswara, many saints, Mahatmas were present on the stage.
Speaking from the stage, Pandit Dhirendra mentioned three times about installing a saffron flag in the Kumbhalgarh Fort. He said, “We are not afraid of anyone’s father. They are those who are afraid. We are the ones who will celebrate by putting up a saffron flag in the Kumbhalgarh Fort. Calling upon the crowd of youth, he said- You want the saffron flag to be raised there. Is this correct, if true, then why are you sitting silent? ‘
According to Udaipur police, a case has been registered taking cognizance of his statement. Action will be taken as per rules in the investigation in the case. A case has been registered against Dhirendra Shastri under Section 153A of the IPC. This section is invoked in case of promoting enmity between different groups on grounds of religion, caste, language or residence etc. and disturbing goodwill. It provides for imprisonment up to 3 years or fine or both.
