Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) chief Swati Maliwal was dragged for 15 metres by an inebriated car driver. The incident took place near AIIMS hospital late on Wednesday night when Swati went out on the streets of Delhi to do a reality check. In this case, the police have arrested the accused Harish Chandra. Regarding this incident, Swati said that an accident like Anjali was going to happen to her. They were just saved by God.

According to media news, when Swati was taking stock of the women safety situation on the streets of Delhi, an inebriated car driver came to her and insisted on sitting in his car. When Swati refused, he went ahead with the car, but after 10 minutes he again brought a U-turn and started walking next to him. After this, he started molesting Swati, making dirty gestures. When Swati stepped forward to catch him, she closed the glass panes of the vehicle. During this, Swati’s hand was stuck in the glass, but the accused did not stop. He kept dragging Swati for about 15 meters.

Dcp (South) Chandan Singh said that Swati Maliwal had lodged a complaint at Hauz Khas police station. The accused has been identified as 47-year-old Harish Chandra. He has been arrested and further investigation is underway.
