Anil Antony, son of Congress leader and former Union minister AK Antony, joined the BJP on Thursday. Anil Antony, a Congress leader from Kerala, recently quit the Congress in January following a controversy over the 2002 Gujarat riots and a BBC documentary on Prime Minister Narendra Modi. BJP leaders Piyush Goyal, V Muraleedharan and the party’s Kerala unit chief K Surendran welcomed the former Congress leader into their party at a formal function on Thursday.
“Every Congress worker believes that they are working for one family, but I believed that I am working for the Congress. “Prime Minister Narendra Modi has a very clear vision to put India at the forefront of a multi-polar world. “
“Nowadays, many Congress workers believe that their religion is to work for one family but I believe that one has to work for the nation. The Prime Minister has a good vision to make India famous. Nadda ji, Amit Shah ji have the will to do good work in the society. I will work to strengthen the nation. Anil Antony said, “I have great respect for my father AK Antony. The whole family is with me, I don’t want to say anything political about it but I love them very much. ”
Before leaving the party, Anil Antony used to run the Social Media Cell of the Congress in Kerala. He had called the BBC documentary “biased against India” before leaving the party while the Congress had cited the documentary to attack PM Modi. In the documentary, he was accused of making systematic moves to reduce the opposition’s place in Indian politics.
Anil Antony is an engineer, he has studied Artificial Intelligence (AI) from Stanfort University and Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).
