An Australian man named Craig Wright is claiming in a UK court case that he invented Bitcoin, the world’s first cryptocurrency.

Wright, who goes by the pseudonym Satoshi Nakamoto, says he authored the white paper that introduced Bitcoin in 2008.

The court case, brought by the Crypto Open Patent Alliance (COPA), is seeking to determine the validity of his claims.

COPA, a non-profit organization aiming to keep cryptocurrency technology patent-free, alleges that Wright lied about his identity and manipulated documents to support his assertions.

The case will last for six weeks and could have implications for another lawsuit in which Wright is involved.
