Amritpal Singh, a pro-Khalistan supporter, is in Punjab. According to reports, Amritpal Singh may surrender at Sri Akal Takht Sahib at Golden Temple in Amritsar or Takht Sri Damdama Sahib at Talwandi Sahib in Bathinda. As soon as the input was received, the police have tightened security at both places. Vehicles are being searched by blocking in both cities. According to reports, Amritpal Singh has set 3 conditions for surrender. First, he should not be assaulted in police custody. Secondly, he should be kept in a jail in Punjab only. Thirdly, his surrender should not be termed as an arrest.
Meanwhile, the first video of Amritpal Singh has surfaced after he escaped on March 18. In the video, he is seen appealing to the Sikh community settled in the country and abroad to call Sarbat Khalsa i.e. Dharma Sabha on Baisakhi. Earlier on Tuesday night, the police received information about a suspicious Innova. It was going from Phagwara to Hoshiarpur. Amritpal and Papalpreet were found to be on board. After which the counter intelligence team of Punjab Police chased him for 37 km.
After the police operation, the youth fled leaving the Innova near the gurudwara. Which the police have taken into custody. After this, 700 police personnel from Jalandhar, Hoshiarpur and Kapurthala conducted search operations in Hoshiarpur and Phagwara throughout the night. However, in the investigation, the Innova’s number turned out to be fake.
Police investigation revealed that Amritpal had reached Phagwara in a Mahindra Scorpio car of Uttarakhand number. From here, he escaped in an Innova.
