In the north-eastern state of Manipur, the government has ordered shoot-at-sight of rioters who indulged in violence. The order was issued on Thursday when violence escalated in the state and rioters torched several houses. Section 144 has been imposed in the violence-hit areas. Internet services have also been suspended in the state for the next 5 days.
Home Minister Amit Shah spoke to Chief Minister N Biren Singh over phone and inquired about the situation in Manipur. Cm Biren Singh has released a video on Thursday morning and appealed to the people to maintain peace.
Let us tell you that there was many strong violence during the demonstration of tribals on Wednesday. In view of the violent protests in the state, curfew was imposed in 8 districts. It is being told that 55 columns of Army and Assam Rifles have been deployed in the violence-affected areas. At the same time, 9000 people have been shifted to relief camps.
Here, the Center has also sent RAF teams for deployment in the violence-affected areas of Manipur. According to media reports, five companies of RAF have been airlifted to Imphal, while another 15 general duty companies have been asked to be ready. Around 15 companies of CRPF are already present in Manipur. Additional forces have also been put on alert.
